MEDIA REMINDER -- PSC To Hold Local Public Hearing In Hickory Hills Rate Cases

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold a local public hearing in California, Missouri on August 11, 2014, to receive public comment on water and sewer rate cases filed by Hickory Hills Water & Sewer Company, Inc.  The local public hearing schedule appears below.
August 11—California.  Public Meeting Room of City Hall, north entrance, 500 South Oak.  A question and answer session will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the taking of sworn testimony from customers to follow.  This local public hearing will be held in a facility that meets the accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Any person who needs additional accommodations to participate in the hearing should call the PSC’s hotline at 1-800-392-4211 (voice) or Relay Missouri at 711 before the local public hearing.
On December 2, 2013, Hickory Hills Water & Sewer Company, Inc. filed rate cases with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking to increase annual water operating revenues by approximately $4,525 and annual sewer operating revenues by approximately $6,248.  Hickory Hills Water & Sewer Company, Inc. serves approximately 49 water and sewer customers in Moniteau County near California, Missouri.  
Under the small rate case process, the PSC Staff audits the books and records of the company.  After the audit, the PSC Staff presents its findings as well as its initial recommendation for resolution of the rate requests to the Office of the Public Counsel and the company.  Based upon discussions between the PSC Staff, the Office of the Public Counsel and the company, the PSC Staff and the company reached an agreement in the rate cases.  The Office of the Public Counsel has not joined in the agreement.  The Office of the Public Counsel is a separate state agency which represents the general public in cases before the Commission.
Under the agreement, annual water operating revenues would increase by approximately $14,472 and annual sewer operating revenues would increase by approximately $41,640.  The current monthly rate for residential customers and those proposed under the agreement appear below.
