PSC Modifies Hearing Schedules In Noranda Complaint Cases
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has modified the hearing schedules in complaint cases filed by Noranda Aluminum, Inc. and 37 individual customers against Union Electric Company d/b/a Ameren Missouri.
Noranda Aluminum, Inc. and 37 other individual customers filed a complaint against Ameren Missouri on February 12, 2014, alleging that Ameren Missouri is earning in excess of its authorized return on equity. The complaint asks the Commission to review Ameren Missouri’s rates and to revise those rates to just and reasonable levels (Case No. EC-2014-0223).
Hearings in this complaint case are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on July 28, 2014, in Room 310 of the Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, in Jefferson City. Hearings are scheduled through August 1, 2014. The Commission anticipates making a decision in this complaint case on September 26, 2014.
In a separate complaint case (Case No. EC-2014-0224), Noranda Aluminum, Inc. and 37 other individual customers allege the rate Noranda currently pays to Ameren Missouri for its electricity is now unreasonable. The complaint alleges that because of low aluminum prices and other business conditions, Noranda must have a rate reduction for its aluminum smelter to remain financially viable.
The complaint asks the Commission to reduce the rate Noranda pays to $30.00/MWh and to increase the rate paid by Ameren Missouri’s other customers to make the adjustment revenue neutral for Ameren Missouri.
Hearings in this complaint case are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on June 16, 2014, in Room 310 of the Governor Office Building in Jefferson City. Hearings are scheduled through June 17, 2014. The Commission anticipates making a decision in this complaint case on August 6, 2014.
The Governor Office Building meets accessibility standards required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. If anyone needs additional accommodations to participate in these hearings, please contact the Public Service Commission’s Hotline at 1-800-392-4211 (voice) or Relay Missouri at 711 before the hearings.
