ORDER
CANCELING CERTIFICATE

On June 15, 2015, the Staff of the
Missouri Public Service Commission filed a motion requesting Giant
Communications, Inc. (“Giant”) certificate of service authority to provide basic
local exchange telecommunication services in the State of Missouri be
cancelled.
In File Number CA-2013-0492, the
Commission granted Giant a certificate of service authority to provide basic
local exchange telecommunication service in the State of Missouri.
Staff states in its motion that Giant
contacted Staff via letter stating Giant was no longer providing service in
Missouri and requested the Commission cancel Giant’s certificate of service
authority. Staff recommends that the
Commission cancel the company’s certificate of service authority to provide basic
local exchange telecommunications services.
On June 16, 2015, the Commission
issued an Order Establishing Time to Respond allowing any parties to file an
objection or request a hearing to do so no later than June 26, 2015. No objections or requests for a hearing were
filed.
The Commission has the authority to
cancel a certificate and tariff pursuant to Section 392.410.5, RSMo, which
states, in part, “[a]ny certificate or service authority may be altered or
modified by the commission after notice and hearing, upon its own motion or
upon application of the person or company affected.”
Based
on Staff’s motion, the Commission finds that the certificate of service
authority granted to Giant Communications, Inc., shall be canceled.
THE COMMISSION ORDERS THAT:
1. The certificate of authority to provide basic
local exchange telecommunications services granted to Giant Communications,
Inc., in File Number CA-2013-0492, is canceled.
2.
This order shall become effective on
July 11, 2015.
3. This
case may be closed on July 12, 2015.
